Dormer Windows and Staircase Construction
At TIG excell we have completed many dormer conversions to help our clients add space to their loft or top floor.
A dormer window is a vertical window that is located within the slope of a roof. They have many advantages, the first being the aforementioned space increase they provide, which is particularly sought after in a city like London. When installed correctly, dormer windows can add value to a property, often providing much needed additional light and ventilation to loft areas. A dormer window can completely transform the top floor of a house, greatly improving its functionality.
Our meticulous team always makes sure that architectural drawings are plausible and relevant, and we take pride in communicating with our clients properly at each stage of the process so that they know exactly what to expect. We don’t cut corners and our small, specialised team allows us to oversee each part of the process so we can take full responsibility at every stage. Whether you know exactly what you want or you are more open to ideas from our design team, our structural engineers are experts at creating safe, useable spaces. As well as dormer windows we are also skilled when it comes to the installation of velux windows and skylights. With most of our work coming from word of mouth, we go the extra mile to fully achieve customer satisfaction, and we will never hit you with hidden charges.

Frequently Asked Questions
Planning permission can be a tricky area, and requirements change depending on the local authority you are dealing with. We can save you a lot of trouble by sorting this out ourselves and including this service in the final price, or you can have as much involvement in the process as you like. Our professional experience means we can offer plenty of advice on what’s realistic. We can do everything from the initial application, organising building control and visiting the site, or we are happy to take on projects where planning permission has already been granted.
← Can you help with planning permission?
This is not a requirement, but we can work from rough concepts or technical drawings that our client already has. Alternatively, we can work with an architect or structural engineer to turn your ideas into formal drawings.
← Do I need to have designs or architectural drawings already?
Absolutely. We take great care in ensuring your property is protected from damage from the time we start our work to the completion of the project. Before we begin we always ensure that our client’s floors, walls and furniture are all protected. If needed, we will set up a skip in a way that protects your property so that everything is well contained and easy to remove when our work is over.
← Do you clean up after yourselves?
